AJA: Lost In Space

Wanaka-based dark-pop artist Michèle Ducray has today unveiled her latest single, 'Ace Of Spades', as well as announcing her debut EP, which is out on October 6. Michèle's music is slick, addictive and hook-laden; she's definitely an artist to keep on your radar!

In celebration of today's single release and anticipation of her upcoming EP, we wanted to know what inspires Michèle and her dark-pop sound. So we asked her if she got lost in space with a record player, what are 5 albums she couldn't live without?

Album #1

Purple Rain - Prince

He's one of my top two favourite artists of all time. This work was a piece of 80's art and has my favourite songs ever on it! 'The Beautiful Ones', 'Purple Rain', 'Take Me With U' and 'Let's Go Crazy'. One of the best albums ever!

Album #2

How Great Thou Art - Elvis Presley

One of my other top two favourite artists of all time! This is an exceptional Gospel album showcasing the most haunting, melancholic vocals. His voice is in a league of its own.

Album #3

Rumours - Fleetwood Mac

It has Stevie Nicks and the songs 'Gold Dust Woman', 'The Chain' and 'Rhiannon', what more could you ask for?

Album #4

Queen II - Queen

I love me some Freddie Mercury and this is a seriously underrated 'Queen' album in my opinion! I have vibed so hard to 'The White Queen' and 'March of the Black Queen' so many times while studying! It's so dark fairytale, I relate with my musical themes.

Album #5

SOS - SZA

I feel like every girl can relate to loving this album, it's so emotive and honest and the lyrics in the songs are super descriptive and relatable. It's perfect for when you just want to have a moment and of course, cry about a relationship, haha.
