Luna Shadows has delivered yet another breathtaking visual accompanyment to her music - the video for 'little rituals' is beautiful, colourful, enchanting, joyous and also poignant. The film was directed, produced and co-edited by Shadows herself, alongside a team of LA based creatives in the mountains of Topanga in California. “This was my first video shot on film (16mm), which was both exciting and challenging,” says Shadows. “When dealing with film, you do not have infinite takes, so you need to have a plan - especially when you are both director and subject. I did not grow up with much formal dance training, and I do not consider myself a very competent dancer - but I love to dance, and I could not imagine this video without joyous movement. So I took a lot of dance classes and rehearsed the choreography for several months with my dance instructor/choreographer (Cati Jean).”

Kazoo hooks, grungy guitars and hook-laden melodies - there is nothing not to love about Ōtautahi's Emma Dilemma's new track ‘Bed All Day’. Both the video and song create a perfect storm of a juxtaposition; it’s both cheerful and complicated, light-hearted and existential, creating the perfect soundtrack for modern times and showcasing Emma Dilemma’s undeniable skill for articulating complex and relatable themes in musical form. “‘Bed All Day’ reflects my playful side; my tendency to take something that’s bringing me down and make fun of it,” says Emma. “When I’m in darker spaces emotionally, I tend to act out with drugs and alcohol which keeps me stuck in bed all day beating myself up, and getting increasingly more anxious about my adult responsibilities that I’m abandoning.”

Mel Parsons has unveiled a gorgeous new video for her latest single 'Offer Down'. Beautifully shot with tasteful colours and a simple concept, the end result is captivating and draws focus to the lyrics. “‘Offer Down’ had been kicking around for a while; the lyrical idea was a bit of a view into the slog behind the scenes and the idea that the overnight success is usually preceded by a lot of rejection and persistence,” says Parsons.

Sam Cullen's live show is one of the best local acts you could go to if you want to dance; his onstage is electric and infectious, bringing a classic rock n' roll vibe to his hook-laden melody writing. He's just released a very special music video for his latest single 'The Cold Midwinter', and it's nothing short of epic. Created by celebrated creative Dave Thomson of Imaginary Friends and filmed at Invercargill’s Rugby Park Stadium, where Sam’s Grandfather was the groundskeeper for over a decade and his Dad worked onsite for a number of years until 2022. “Being filmed at home was a huge part of it and it’s such a special location for me” says Sam. “It was important to me that the video looked as epic as the song sounds, so location-wise, Rugby Park and its huge stadium lights were perfect on camera. In some shots, you can see my breath. It was cold, and it was winter. We also had a lot of visual and colour cues we wanted to work with and Dave absolutely nailed the vibe.” On a roll with touring, Sam and his band have two special shows booked - Auckland at Anthology Lounge 24 November (tickets HERE ), and at Invercargill at Rocking Horse @ The Races 16 December (more info + tickets to come HERE ).

Co-producer and touring member for The Naked and Famous, LA-based Luna Shadows is an artist, producer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist with an undeniable track-record of releasing her own, critically-acclaimed, indie-pop gold. Today she releases her first single and video of her latest project: the haunting, introspective track ‘witches’ brew’. The visuals were directed and produced by Luna Shadows herself alongside a team of local creatives in LA. Paying homage to classic witch, Halloween and Sci-fi films, the video also explores deep introspective meaning in conjunction with the music. “In the video, “witch” and “artist” are synonymous, as “music” and “magic” are used interchangeably,” says Shadows. “It’s a metaphor for the creative process, how it can unintentionally inspire self-doubt and fear, despite a strong connection to artistic identity.” “I created the props, such as the cauldron and books - all by hand. This video was a massive undertaking and a real labor of love - ironically, my experience of self-doubt really ran parallel to the witch character version of myself in the video, as I went through many moments of uncertainty and artistic doubt as I created it.”

Foley have unleashed their debut album CROWD PLEASER and it's everything we hoped it would be and more. Their video for the lead single 'What Got Into You' is stunning - made by acclaimed video director Tom Grut, it's packed with just the right amount of chaos to match the subject matter of the rumour mill. “The song is all about a small rumour becoming a hugely damaging story - so we really wanted to communicate the way something small can get out of hand incredibly fast,” says Foley. “In a visual context that was far more light hearted and fun and we let our imaginations run wild with the kind of chaos we could show - throwing feathers, lamps, trees, fire, bubble wrap - anything and everything has touched this video!”
